8th Colwyn Bay Brownies have just completed their Startastic challenge badge! They enjoyed a variety of activited including a Hollywood hand print and signing evening and a photoshoot for their Girl Band! Part of the challenge is also to sew their fantastic badge on!

The 1st Colwyn Bay and 2nd Llanddulas Guides attended the “Tawny Owl” project activities day at the RSPB in Llandudno Junction on Saturday 17th September. These events are to celebrate 100 years of RSPB in Wales. Even though the weather tried to hamper the willow den building and walks, nothing could dampen the spirits of the Guides, Guiders and RSPB staff and the day was a great success! A guide also made her promise as the sun came out and stayed out! Further days are being run for the various sections, please speak to your DC for further information or the RSPB website.

Castle Rangers recently attended Teens & Twenties at Broneirion and had a fab time in 100 acre wood with their friends Pooh & Piglet! Two of the girls were lucky enough to have been selected for international trips this summer, Kathryn attended Scoutopia Jamberette in Belgium and Ruth went to Malta with a group from Girlguiding Cymru, they both had an amazing time and wish to thank everyone who supported them.

News from around the county

2 people from the Division attended international camps during the summer. Emma Lloyd leader with Ceiriog Valley Guides went to a camp in Belgium. Kitty Cartwright a young leader with Llangollen Rainbows went to a camp in Italy. Chirk Rainbows and Brownies raised £250 in fundraising events which resulted in recruiting potential new members.

Colwyn Senior Section will be opening in the Division. Llanddulas and Colwyn Bay Guides attended the Wales Camp at Cricceth and had a great time.

North Denbighshire

Rhyl District Rainbows & Brownies took part in the Rhyl Carnival and won first place in “Best Advertising Float” and ”Best Youth Group”. The theme was “Best of British” so we chose the weather of course and all the girls wore red/yellow disposable macs and had red/yellow umbrellas. Upon our return to Headquarters all the girls enjoyed a picnic.

South Denbighshire

Our District meeting in July took the form of a social evening. The leaders and older girls spent a day serving refreshments at the Gwaenynog show, helping raise funds for the units and some valuable profile raising. A District Camp was held at Felin Bach, Caernarfon.

West Flintshire

Holywell Guides Reopened and had a good turn out. Holywell and Caerwys Brownies had a joint end of term party in July including a visit from Steve with his Raptors (birds of prey) a good time. Carmel Rainbows have recruited a new leader to take over from Cathrin. Guide highlight of the week was “A day without Guiders” (fully risk assessed I hasten to add!) Ranger highlight had to be Go Ape at Delamere. A volunteer is still needed for Holywell District Commissioner.

East Flintshire

Mynydd Isa Guides had a fabulous time in Austria. Stories and photos are doing the rounds. Wepre and Shotton Guides went on a joint Adventure Camp in Birmingham – a great time was had by all. HOPE Leeswood Guides and Rangers went on a visit to Our Chalet in Switzerland. Hopefully there will be a new rainbow unit in Pen y FFordd before Xmas, potential leader will be visiting Hope rainbows to get the feel of it.

Wrexham

Thanks to all those who helped on the trailer at the Eisteddfod. 207 of the specially designed badges were sold at the Eisteddfod – we still have some for sale if anyone wants some for their unit – £1 each. There is a challenge we devised during the Eisteddfod week available too so girls can “earn” their badge! Now planning a trip to Switzerland in 2014. Marford Guides had a Trip to Switzerland. They had an amazing time and were joined by some others leaders from around the division. Thanks to Beryl Blackmore for organising it. 2nd Gresford brownies raised £300 in the Mr Men Challenge. £200 sent for Children with Leukaemia and £100 kept for brownie funds.
